I have been contacted by a neighbor of mine to do some big maintenance on her yard and landscaping as she learned I plan to start a landscape business after college. (I am 18.) She wants several things done, each of which I have questions on:

    1. rake out her gardens, edge them, and put down mulch.
I was wondering what the going rate is for the edging and raking/ installing mulch? (I live in SE MA.)

    2. Install new back lawn- Dig up old sod with Bobcat and install a new layer of loam and hydro-seeding as well as extending the yard into the woods after several trees are removed. Also, I may need to redo side yard after the tree removal trucks drive over it.
On removing the existing sod, how far should I dig down- is 3-4 inches enough or is it too much to remove the old sod and put down new layer of loam for the new lawn at the original grade? The yard is about 60ft x 40ft and the side yard is about 60ft x 20ft with many roots. How long should I rent a Bobcat for- is one day enough? (I am an inexperienced operator but learn very quickly)
What is the going rate for such work? (I live in SE MA.)

    Thanks for any help,
