Has anyone had or currently have clients who just plain and simply refuse to sign a renewal but expect you to have 2 guys spend 2 days at their house installing their decor??

I have a customer that is simply driving me nuts. The renewal was sent in September, multiple times via email as well as snail mail, again in October and once again in November.

To this date as of 5 minutes ago, when are decorations getting installed?

Once again, still no signed agreement, and now required by new insurance company due to electrical being specified for projects to issue coverage if God forbid an issue arose, accountant having to try to account for product used, - got taken severely last year for about 10k with nothing to produce for records of sale - did three projects on hand shake word of mouth agreement.

Totally amazes me at how intensely difficult it appears to be for people that obviously have great jobs, so they must be educated, can not seem to comprehend simply signing a piece of paper and sending it back.

God I can not wait for this year to be over!!!!!

It gets even better now. The renewal finally gets sent back, and they decide they are going to cross out the price I sent them and put the projected cost there - "as per last years estimate." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

There decorations are now located in their driveway, awaiting their installation by someone willing to pay them to put them up, not gonna be this guy.

You ain't kidding there. That is a part of the reason I now only do referral and commercial landscape projects. Just totally blows my mind, still really super pissed off.

You know, I really thought about it, but just wanted to leave before I had to deal with one of them. I can get a bit hot tempered so God only knows what would have come out of my mouth, chances are it would have been really something that would have left someone speechless. I tend to be one of the guys that get straight to the point with no beating around the bush so to speak.

not trying to be the bad guy here, but did you give them an estimate last year of what it would cost this year? in writing? is that where they got their number to write down and cross out yours? or did they just make up a number?

This is why I never got into the decoration side. Too many people want to be Clark Griswold for free. Ladder and roof work cost. I've had customers ask to borrow my ladders to put their decorations up. Mmm....no. "Well as long as your here could you just put up a couple strings of icicles, it'll only take a few minutes?" Mmmmm.....hell no!:usflag:

No what I gave them Dave was the cost of the lights without the tree they wanted me to do. We ended up doing the tree last year and agreed that the cost of the lights, leads etc would be carried over to this year - go figure 800k house with the little girl in the window watching me with tears coming down her face because Mommy said they couldn't afford it this year.

The price for this year was 900 and change, they felt it should be done for 500 and change. 2 guys 2 days and all ladder on the house.
