That's exactly how I do it. As I pass a lawn that is in need of some TLC, I drop it in their mailbox.I have hung them on doors in the past and had too many people see me coming and assume I was going to feed them some sales pitch and stop me half way not wanting to hear any explaination. On the flyer I start off the body of information by saying "For your convenience, I placed this information in your mailbox for you to read and discuss at your leisure". Lets them know that I am expanding the business but more importantly, that I respect their time and it usually gives them a nice fuzzy, warm feelin' inside knowing that i'm lookin' out for them...hehe..Good Luck

Both of you use the search feature on the top of the page look up the word mailboxes and read the posts. There are several dozen guys here who have been fined and given court appearances for doing just that. I don’t agree with the law but it is clearly against the law and only a matter of time before they nail you.

When I first started out I was putting fliers in mailboxes. The # of calls I got was minimal but thats the only way I could afford to advertise and get customers,,especially since I was in a town where I did not know anybody. Long story short I got a call from the postal service one day and she said that one of the mail people took all of my fliers out (she told me the exact # I had put out) and that she would let it slide this time, but the next time I would get fined 37cents for each flier (it may have been 34cents, but whatever the postage rate was at the time) Therefore, I would not reccomend doing this.
Adurham, listen to the guys.. as always Our Government is out to get money. notice they have no problem with you direct mailling your flier thru the mail at 37 cents a pop. But when you do it, it cuts into their profits, and they will fine you. Either go door to door and introduce yourself(your company) or put the fliers on the doors. it may be a little more work, but the U.S. POST OFFICE WILL NOT TOLERATE You hitting the mailboxes.

It's a Federal offense with up to 10 years in prison if you keep on doing it.

Don't put on or in the mailbox. Also if you are going around the city putting up fliers check with the city for a permit. Ours here is caused a peddlers permit.
