RPM help

    What is the high end that I can have a 20 hp kolher , 8 hp B&S, and 6hp Kawasaki on rpm's . Thanks for any help.

    I have run my 22 Kohler Command at 3,800 for the past 3,542 hours with out problems. This is set at no load, not when the blades are engaged. I try to keep the blades at 3600 when I am mowing.

    I'm not sure what the other two can be set at.

    I would contact kaw. and b&s from their web sites, they would give the answers you need. I checked kawasaki`s web site and the smallest engine listed is a 5hp :D

    I wouldn't run the briggs or kawi any higher than 3400, but that's just my opinion. there are two didgits after the code# on the briggs that dictate the rpm for that engine (ie...E1 Or 02 ) your briggs dealer can translate it to rpm for you

    I wouldn't run my Kaw. at anything less than 3600 with the blades engaged.

    3750 on the Kohler if it's a Command model or 3600 if it's a Magnum model. 3600 on the Briggs and Kawasaki. ED

    Thanks for the replys. Tomorrow the man with the tach is coming and I don't want to go into it with no idea of what it is suppose to be. Want it on the high end though. Will that make a noticable difference on the speed of my walker if the rpm were low? LeafLawnandLimb , Larry L. Love , I have to ask what up with all the LLLLLLLLL. Just wondering.

    For like $35.00 go and buy a SenDec digital tach/hourmeter. They are the one wire type.(No ground wire needed) The wire is removable and all you have to do is hold the unit up to the plug wire to get your RPMS. I have one in the tool box and one on all major equipment. Biggest draw back is the silly 25hr intrevels that it flashes OIL.....CHANGE.....LUBE....etc and you have to look for the RPM's between all these flashes. They are accurate to 10 RPM. My dealer uses another type that looks like a thick magic marker. Just hold it to the plug and presto....digital readout. Never saw these for sale though. Probably a $200 Snap-On tool!
