my box on my truck rusted through over the fender well (89 Chevy 4x4) The rest of the truck is in really good shape, and conviently someone backed into it so I know have 1300 bucks to use to repair it from the insurance company. I don't want to waste all that money on my old rusty box though. Does anyone know where I can find boxes in really good shape?

Try yellow pages for wrecking yards. A couple in this town specialize in pick-up trucks. Look for those types. The 89 Chevy went all the way up to 98 before next model change. The wrecking yard will be able to fill in the details. 2 guys 4 bolts and some electrical wire can swap a box in a driveway. If you can get a colour match you won't even eat up the $1300

I do not live in Michigan...BUT...around here you want to contact the companies that install the mason's beds and the utility beds onto pick-up trucks. They have a lot of take-offs from these jobs. Look in the yellow pages of the phone book. Make several calls. You might be surprised.

Both these last two are good suggestions, but yeah, I would look in the auto trader. Like he said, they are in there all the time for around $500.

    What about a flatbed?

They make some really nice ones out there.

Plus you can make stake sides if you need to haul mulch or what ever.

Only downside they are kinda expensive. But I have seen em around here for $1200.

Look at a company who installs truck bodies. They take off brand new pick up bodies to install tool box bodies, dumps, etc. Typically, you can get take off bodies with tailgates well under that number you have to work with. You may need to drill a hole here or there, but you can get them to work painlessly.
