Always hustling whether it’s plowing/salting snow, flipping cars or moving equipment.
Excited for this season. Thinking about downsizing a little, starting to find that we get more work but don’t make more money. My dad is retiring after the winter this season so I’m all on my own. We’ll see how my wife and I manage with our one part time employee. He’s interested in sub contracting too so we may go that way. Still in the air.
I did the same thing this year. Downsized a little to have enough work for me and 1 other guy (maybe) and it has been great. Haven't gotten to meat of the season yet but I am already ahead of projections which is nice
Good to know it’s worked out, we’ve accumulated a lot of equipment over the years and because we have the space to keep it we haven’t been in a rush to get rid of things. Same with work, we’re happy where we are. Now though, we never like dropping customers but at the same time we don’t want to hire more help. I think simplification is a very good thing. Make your life simple, the more junk you have the more things go wrong. This business is about profit not the amount of crews, trucks, customers and equipment you have. I’d really like to enjoy my work more this season.
Trucks are commercial safetied and ready to go, still have a couple trailers to do. Changing the oil on the mowers. Got a new spreader too, Chapin 8401 80L with a stainless frame. Hopefully it works out we have a skid of fert to spread in the next couple weeks.
Amen to that brother
So much raking lately, done my cleans up though. On to aerating and fert.
Speaking of enjoying work more, trying to upsell a little more to our good customers. Did some underbrush and forestry mulching today and yesterday with this T770 and bobcat forestry head. We did two customers in one subdivision. About 4 acres total. It was really fun to run once I got a hang of it.
I’ve been modifying our little camper here and there, demoed a couple new machines and have been struggling with all the rain lately. Got a couple more toys lately too
