Sad day for baseball

    Don't forget King George was banned for life from baseball in 1990. Only lasted 3 years though.

    Let's not anoint him with Sainthood just yet.

    George had some serious ups and downs, said some stupid things, and was fined and suspended. But he expected a lot from his players. He paid them a lot, and expected nothing but their best. If you didn't hustle and give that extra 10%, you heard about it from George. Same with the managers. Hell, most major corporations let their top guys stay longer than they should, but not Steinbrenner.

    He had many faults, and I never liked him. He was probably the most instrumental in separating the small and large market teams, due to money. He overpaid both top and mediocre players which made it tough for smaller markets to compete.
