What do you guys think Dixie Chopper Classic 60 or the Scag Turf tiger 61?

Ben

I have a turf tiger it is a 2010 35 hp 61 inch deck . It goes any where and at 600 hours no break downs yet. Good machine goes any where.

And I also have a dixie chopper 2703 27 hp and 60 inch deck. I have had this old girl since 2006 It is a good machine on the flat land but sketchy on side hills . If you are only on flat It will do. I really like my tiger and will buy another but the dixie has 1200 hours on it and am proud to run it. a very reliable machine and easy to fix your self. Sorry to ramble hope this helps

I have 9 DC
6 of them are 60'' Classic frame
In my opinion I never seen a scag cut well on first pass Guys around owns them they have to double cut
Im a tall guy and a scag is like sitting in a small car Compare to DC sitting like I do in my F350 ford
If you set up a DC right it will stay on any hill better then any other mower

The scag might not be setup right either I dont know
My ATV dealer tried push scag on me Before I bought my 2011 72'' DC this spring I demo scag
Side x side my DC There no way I own one just didnt ride like my DC Scag was a rough ride

Scag TT is probably one of the most sold 60 plus inch zero turns in the country. I have Hustler and Scag mowers, Dixie's aren't popular around GA- like 1 dealer around Atlanta. Can't see comparing these 2...Exmark, Hustler, and Scag seem to own the market share around here. Go with whatever Dealer givers the best support and easiest for parts.

Not even close, Scag all day long. My Tiger Cat cuts just fine on the first pass and has 850 hours on it. I have not had a major mechanical issue with it yet and it has long ago deprecated out and is now returning pure profit. I assume the Velocity Plus Cutter Deck technology is the same on all the models and like someone here said I think the Turf Tiger is one of the most popular commercial rigs in the country.

DCs are not even in the same ball park as a scag. Just look at the resale values.DC are built very well for the money and they do hold up. Just not on the same level. There is a reason scag cost more. I got a good laugh at the hillside comment. You are not going to beat a scag on a slope with a DC. Remember to compare apples to apples on ZTR.

I will beat you on any hill any day. The stock dixie tires aren't that great on hillsides, but I run carlisle strykers on mine. I mow some dams with my 3372 that you can barely walk on. I demoed a scag turf tiger once and the hydraulics felt awfully weak compared to a dixie. It did feel more stable driving down hill than a dixie but overall the dixie choppers are much better in my opinion.

DC does make a heavy residental version.

Apples to Apples here?

I can hang any hill on a Scag V-ride regardless of the slope. It usually comes down to the operator. Scag > Dixie Chopper any idea. I love within a mile of Dixie Chopper and may have found a friend dead beneath one, but neither influence my decision.

DC top of line for years but everybody else is catching up
Im a tall guy and the DC fits me all others feels like a Ford Escort
You sit on a DC like a F350 truck
Comfort one thing I like about DC
1 pass clean cut no double cutting
I havent found one hill/slope I cant mow
I been riding them since1985
The closes dealer to me is 3 hrs one way
I still will buy DC over other brands

So buy the Scag You cant handle a DC

Yes it comes down to the operator

@OP
You will notice some people are fiercely loyal to their brand and there is nothing wrong with that until they start ignoring reality. DCs look like they are built in someones back yard and are riding on their reputation from years ago. As far as double cutting with a Scag, they are known to have one of the best cutting decks out there and definitely the best when you are talking about a wide range of cutting conditions.

I think the posts almost unanimously answered your question.
