Just wondering how you all screed your bedding for patios? I was taught a while ago to use my grade stakes to set my screed bars on. Figure out final grade and drive wooden stakes into sub-soil so top of stakes are set to the top of final sub-base grade, fill and compact sub-base to top of stakes, then lay 1in. screed rails on top of stakes and lay bedding sand, then screed. Do you all do it any different? Just curious.

we use stakes around the outside of the excavation. mark the grades on the stakes using a laser. (top of base, top of bedding sand, top of pavers)
We then install our dense grade subbase pulling strings between stakes to check height throughout. Then when we lay our screed rails (we use heavy 1" o.d. steel gas pipe) We set the ends of the pipes with the laser. Install bedding sand and pull out pipes.
