shade seeding?

    i have one account where the owner wants me to seed. but they told me that the have tried in the past but had no luck. it also hardly gets any sun. i suggested hydroseed or sod. what do you think i shoiuld do?

    I would seed it with a slit seeder and use a dense shade seed mix... a shade fescue blend. I would also warn the customer that success mat be very limited.

    I would tell them that of the seeding fails, which is likely, to consider installiing a shade bed... ferns, (Japanese painted), some astilbe, a hosta or two....

    Take a tough challenge and make some $ on it... and make the customer happy in the process. Grass, even fescue needs 4 hours of sun.

    Is this under a maple perhaps? If it is.... even within 40 feet, something more must be done. Maples kill everything inside their drip lines, but there are ways to defeat the vegitation killing maple tree. If it's a maple issue.... say so, I have some tips for that.
