What is the best way to sharpent blades?

My dealer receommended that I leave the blades on the mower, tip it over (21") or use a floor jack (32" hydro) and use a dremmel to sharpen them.

    Thanks.

I think your dealer is wrong. How are you going to balance the blades with them on the mower. I personaly use a 4 1/2'' grinder and a file to sharpen them.

    Piece of cake..

1, remove blade(s) with an air impact wrench
2, walk over to the Fireball jr
3, turn it on - sharpen blade
4, use g-matic to check balance
    5, turn off Fireball sharpener
6, reinstall blade(s) with impact wrench

    Go Mow A Lawn

All part of a days work.

I ALWAYS take blades off when sharpening them. Like said above how would you balance them if they are on the mower???

I wouldn't get anything fixed at that dealer if that is how they sharpen blades. Yikes.

I take em off and vise em down to my shop table and sharpen em with my 4.5" angle grinder.

That is frightening to say the least. I guess your dealer wants to sell you more parts or a new mower when you have spindle issues due to an unbalanced blade. Take the blade off to sharpen and balance it.

How do you balance the blade? I understand you're supposed to put it on a nail and make sure one end doesn't drop immediately, but if it does, how do you balance it?

    Thanks
