Unless you have an account UPS will be a small fortune. I tried to have a self propelled gas blower, big difference in price than electric to ship, approx. 250 pounds crated and it was approx $500+. That's doing it online. Over the phone its double that.

I used Uship and it cost me about $160(dont remember exactly)with extra insurance.

I took a look at the company know as Uship it appears to be a online bidding/shipping company. After the first 2 pages of information requested i understand why I would not use this company. I believe you are mistaken about how much it would cost shipping via UPS. UPS Logistics handles larger freight and actually beats on a regular basis their completion both domestically and international. R&L Carriers may also be another source to try.
Shipping is very expensive on a good day and with the continued devaluation of the currency the cost will continue to climb higher.

Uship was extremely smooth and if I needed to have something shipped again I'd use them.

I'm not mistaken about UPS. Unless you have an account and are a business it is extremely expensive.

I can only speak from my own 20 years shipping both domestically and internationally. I believe your opinion is based on not being in business and possibly incurring a fraction of the freight I have shipped. Shipping companies can and will be competitive for your business, if you know how to shop and ask for the best rates.

When was the last you, as an individual called UPS, FedEx, R&L, etc... to have something over 200 lbs that burns fuel, shipped approx. 600 miles? Im betting a long time if at all or you would be aware of the cost.

They are competitive. Very close in price with each other. That's why Uship is so popular.

Uship is so popular because you have said so. Never heard of the company before this thread. Very sure I would never use this company weather as an individual or company since I can do better for myself. I have shipped LCL to the UK on many occasions over the last 8 years and in spite of that, I am far more keen about shipping cost domestically and internationally than you could begin to understand. Please stick with your shipper of choice, only you know what works for you.

I might call them so I don't have to give all my info, before who knows if I get a quote or not.....
would it be cheaper to say its business or personal?
Shipping is expensive either way. Just because you have an account does not mean you will have cheaper rates for your shipping. Ask for a price either way you may be given a break and when you do call have all of your info ready, the estimator will like a prepared customer over a unprepared customer every time.

U ship was the shipping co. on the tv program shipping wars. They are in essence a broker that finds truckers to price and pick up loads. It provides truckers a way to fill their trucks and they seem to be very competitive. Used them to ship a car and they were great

UShip is popular because its cheap, reliable and there's a tv show about it. If you want to pay a ridiculous amount to have something shipped, be my guest.

With UPS it doesn't matter. It goes by weight, dimensions, and what you're shipping. They'll give you a quote and if you do it online its 50% less. You are not obligated to book it.

Uship, you register and give your dimensions. Shippers will bid or you can post a price you want to pay. Again, you're not obligated.

I can assure you, any roadway company you use will be a small fortune. I spent a lot of time looking for the best deal and was astonished how expensive it was.

Almost forgot. Your "freight class" will have the largest bearing, along with weight, will have the biggest impact on the price. Huge difference between shipping some carpet vs shipping a fuel burning machine. Whereas if you use uship it makes no difference. It just goes by weight and dimensions. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Very tough to beat Uship on pricing. I almost felt guilty for getting something shipped so cheap. You might as well throw a listing up there and see what type of quotes you get so you can compare to UPS. I can guarantee you it will be cheaper and you have the option of insuring your mower in case it gets damaged during delivery.

Make sure you use someone with at least 3-4 feedback ratings. Many times you will get some lowball bid by someone with 0 feedback basically willing to do it dirt cheap for in exchange for good feedback. I would advise staying away from these people.

Great advice. I listed an auction for my item and had a response from somebody with 1200+ shipments and an excellent rating within 3 minutes. I bought extra insurance but probably didn't need it. Never used Uship before so I was cautious. They guaranteed delivery time within so many days and even though it was over the holidays I got it a couple days early.

I agree mate. It truly is a great place to use for heavy, large, and difficult to ship items that would cost an arm and leg through another provider. I had a bad experience on there when I first registered and did not do my homework. Some guy came in at the last minute and lowballed everyone bigtime. He was basically doing to for free after his expenses. He had all these fancy pics of trucks in his profile pics. Day of delivery dude goes off the grid. No cell phone. Shows up 8hrs later in a beat RAV4 with his wife and kids trying to scam me for 100 bucks.

I have made some great local connects within a 3hr radius It ends up being much cheaper than if I went and got it myself

I bought a blower and before I bid on ebay I went online to UPS, R&L, and FedEx. The mistake I made was with the freight class and bid accordingly. I called UPS to get the pickup scheduled and was given a price of over $1000 and was told if I went online it would be 50% so still over $500. The other carriers were close to the same. The guy I bought the blower off of is a Little Wonder dealer in New York and in the auction it stated buyer has to arrange shipping. I thought no big deal. I was way wrong. Found out that unless you have an account and do business with them the rates are wayyyy different. Had the seller arranged shipping through UPS, it would've cost about $50-$100. He suggested Uship and said he recommends it to everybody he does business with online as its much cheaper. Never did ask him why he doesn't arrange shipping. He told me how to do it. The more I told the story the more I've heard about people going the same route due to the ridiculous shipping rates.
