Sorry for the repetition of this post as I got it in the wrong catagory to start with. I have a John Deere 19HP Kawasaki that will not perform at full speed. I installed new fuel filter, disassembled carb and cleaned, no luck. It just doesn't rev up to full speed when operating. The only time it gets up to speed like it should is if you close the fuel shutoff while operating. Before it quits, it reaches top rpm and seems to run good. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Theo

That indicates the engine is running too rich.
Probably because of too high of a fuel level in the carb.Did you replace the needle & seat?
In the last few weeks, there were some posts on Kaw carbs with an "exploded view" and instructions. Just start reading down the threads and you should be able to find it in a few minutes.
