Simple must be better...

    Trugreens website The top selling Lawn care business in United States with Revenues at around 1.5 billion.I was thinking there site would be more flashy seems like they have a $400 website.Guess fancier isnt always better.

    Actually TruGreen has an account management database that probably cost much closer to $10,000, but you have a good point. Flashy is NEVER better unless you're a celeb or artist. Simple is user-friendly and user-friendly is cash-positive.

    I think it's actually a very good site - not beautiful or edgy, but very decent. It's data-base driven and if they didn't do it in house, I'd guess a design firm would have charged them between 20K and 50K.

    I agree, simplicity is what people want for the most part I think. In my experience, as people come to your site, they have the goal (or more accurately we have the goal) of finding out what your about and signing up, the easier and simpler it is to do that the better.
