which do u guys use in your beds before mulch?
snapshot works awesome, preen is a gimmic...ive done experiments working with brickman and with good application on a sunny weed prone area, ive come back to jobs and seen footprints of weeds in the mulch from someone walking through it and breaking the vapor barrier...
just make sure you lay it within 18 hrs before zero hour mulch time
What do mean by this??
Could you explain this in more detail?
hah well snapshot is pretty much the same suff you can buy at home depot, its a granular preemergent, you lay it out over your mulch bed with a hand spreader right before you mulch, the granules release a gas which will burn new seedlings trying to emerge out of the old bed...it washes away & depletes after about 3 months or after repeated heavy rains or anything else that distrubs the mulch, and youll need to apply a liquid preemergent.....such as barricade with gallery to help this (from lesco)
Now I'm really confused. Is Snapshot sold at HD? Or is it pretty much the same stuff as Preen or the S-brand granular that you can buy at HD? And, what do you use and why is it better?
We used granular snapshot over a bed of 3300 impatients and we had season long weed control. It was the best weed control we have ever had on that bed. I'm sold on it.
Did you put it on after the planting was done? Or before?
Over the top after planting, followed by rain.
Thanks for the info...I'll try it out this year.
