sod question??

have a customer that wants sod over his dead lawn from the drought.would you rake up the dead stuff then rototill or just rototill?what else would you do to the soil before laying the new sod? sorry for all these questions about sod. haha never done it before and i want it to be right so i doesnt die

Sorry it's not so easy.
You need to use a sod cutter and remove the old sod first. Then you can amend the soil if it needs it but remember unlike most of us think you don't want a lot of compost under sod. Just soil and sand.
