I did 9k sq. ft. this spring, used a motorized walk behind sod cutter then a skid steer to pile up and remove the sod. It worked beautifully with very little disturbance to the soil. Switched from the bucket to the harley rake after the sod was hauled away and two hours later was ready to lay the new sod. Do not under estimate the amount of sod to be hauled away! For my 9k sq.ft. job I hauled out appx. 40 yds. of sod. I've found by not using a sod cutter I end up removing more soil than sod, especally if the turf is activly growing, which leads to longer prep. time for the new sod/seed. Good Luck

Hey teck, My job was appx $9k, not flat, did have sprinkler system, and inc. sod haul out fees. As far as skid steer operator If I take my time I CAN peel the sod without removing soil but it's so much faster with the sod cutter. It's like rolling up carpet!:)
