    I got this emaail today:

Hello. My name is XXXX XXXXX and I have a property in Monmouth that i would like to put up for sell. I currently live in Texas and will be flying in on September first for a week to prepare the property to sell. I would like to get a quote on how much you would charge to do some work for me.

    1. Weeded and cleaned up the beds
    2. Mow, edge and fertilize the lawns
    3. Provide and place 1 unit fir bark
    4. Blow hard surfaces to clean up
    5. Aerate lawns, remove plugs.

I would like to stay under 600.00 for this to be done. Let me know what you can do. If you need to drive over to see the property the address is :

I'm certain I won't be driving 35 minutes to look at it since a unit of fir bkdst delivered and spread would be $475, almost using up the budget....Sheesh.

I feel ya man. I had a real estate agent call me this afternoon. He wanted me to mow his 1/4 acre property for $20 bucks. I told him no way. It would cost me $8 just to drive my truck to his property.

His reply was, "well that's what I was paying the last guy to do it, but he just stopped showing up".

I told him, probably because he realized he was "paying" you to mow it.

Thats pretty funny. Wonder where she got the $600 number from?
I'd call her and give her a price and explain why it's that price. If she wants to see your work show her some pics as you do nice work. You never know. I've told people straight up that their price was impossibole to reach and why. Some people hear you, some dont

thats a good point NY, I may let them know what a unit of bark costs and what weeding in a beds area could cost that needs a unit to cover it, but it's half hour+ drive to get there. And I'm not sure I wanna drive out for such a long shot.

They may come back with do what you can for $600. If that means everything but the bark mulch, then so be it. I hear you on the drive jsut to look at it. Going there and then not getting the job would stink. good luck

I guess I'm a bit gun shy also, since The last time I went out to this town to give an est. for an out of town landlord the job was done when I got there. also, I bid a job (1X mow) for an out of towner. Got the bid and took payment via credit card. went out 3 days later as scheduled and the job was done already. had to refund most of the money. (kept $75 for my expenses).

I guess I just don't go find a phone booth to change in every time an absentee landlord calls me.:)

I had ran into a similar situation about removing sod and some dirt and I had to rent a skid to get the job done... At the end of the day they did not like my price.

I've had a couple situations where people tell me "the last guy was doing it for......".

I always want to (but, haven't yet) say...."well, how's THAT working out for you"?
