I'm looking to upgrade current mower, 61 scag freedom z pro for just my own property of 2+ acres.

My debate is do I go with a faster model or a 72 deck?

I'm looking at JD b/c a dealer had a dump from seat collector that I need for leaves. 930M is rated at 10mph, 930R at 12. Will this really make a difference or do I just get the wider deck? Deck upgrade is a lot cheaper than jumping up to R series.

I just want to get done quicker!!

wider deck. most of the time the ground is so rough you cannot go full speed anyhow, or if you do it looks bad. Just make sure you can get around all obstacles with a wider deck.

They have a forum for homeowners, you now have two threads in the wrong forum asking the same question.

How do you have time to monitor where people post their messages? It’s a message board, who cares where the messages are posted? And if you want to post the same question twice, fire away! It’s America!!

Why not just hire a lawncare company?
That would get you done even quicker.

And to answer your question you asked Dishboy, it's pretty easy to see how many times you asked the same question on this forum. Just click the 7 under your name, it lists all of your posts.

Larger deck...faster equals bumpier ride and lower quality of cut.

The deck size increase isn’t always a benefit because most residential lawns aren’t a racquetball court.
It also becomes less handy to park in your garage.
If you find yourself overlapping a lot to miss obstacles or uneven terrain, you’ve gained nothing by adding a wider deck.
Likewise with previously mentioned speed, if your lawn is a racquetball court you can zip along at full speed
Otherwise the extra speed of the mower will be unrealized as well.

    Also as mentioned before
    Hiring someone else for ... I don’t know, $150
    30 times a year is $4500
In three years times buying a new mower you will have just broken even.
Do you really want to still be mowing your lawn in three years?

Plus with a four year note on that new John Deere you’ll still be paying for it.

How much is your time worth?
Is your unhindered Saturday worth the money?
Or do you want to pay the money to John Deere anyway and get stuck mowing your lawn every week?
