Shop around for some liability insurance.

If you're going to do fertilizer/herbicide application, contact the New Jersey Department of Agriculture and get some information on it.

Be sure not to undersell yourself. Be firm when you give prices, don't give a potential customer the impression that they might be able to get you down $10 or $15 because you sounded unsure when you spoke.

If you're going to advertise, expect very few to respond. People on here always say how they dispersed hundreds or even thousands of flyers or postcards and received just a few calls back. Just be smart and try to keep your services in a tight area, it will save you time and money.

Read up on these message boards and pretty soon you'll be set.
