Stay away from 6.0s at all costs???

    Looking at buying a truck for sealcoating, pulling a 550 gal tank trailer will definitely need a diesel. Looking to stay under 15,000, as truck is going to get beat on daily. Should I stay away from 6.0s completely? Or do certain circumstances justify them... ie low miles, bulletproofed, price... Thanks

    I wouldn’t say you neeeed a diesel

    Only time “bulletproofed” matters is if you can verify it’s done by a reputable professional
    Around here that’s ROKs diesel or diff’rent strokes

    Just because someone writes “bullet proofed” on Craig’slist doesn’t mean anything other than they’re trying to get you to buy it witha catch phrase.

    Would I buy a bulletproofed 6.0 diesel from ROKs or endorsed by him?
    You bet

    But this being your first diesel you probably don’t know the right guys.
    So no
    Don’t buy one

    If you’re looking for a cheap diesel get an Isuzu NPR
    Perfect truck for a sealcoating business

    Can pick a decent one up for 8-12k

    You can often find them for a good deal if it hasn't been "bulletproofed" and you have a trusted mechanic who is known for doing it right.

    The tank is a seal-master trailer so it would not be able to be mounted on a Isuzu... the best luck I have had so far is ‘99-03 7.3s with around 200k

    The only diesel I would get is a Dodge Cummins diesel

    Being as your first diesel, I would try to stay away from them. A 7.3 will run infinity miles and far outlast the truck if maintained so maybe one with 200k isn’t that bad. And yes I’ve not had good experiences with 04-08 6.0s

    Its getting harder to find 7.3 that arent rotted out specially in the rust belt:(

    most 6.0 have had the work done to them if there still around but some were over modified wont pass state inspection without egr and the tune can cause failures

    for any diesel a good mechanic or doing your own repairs can be affordable
    trips to dealer will probably make you brokepayuppayuppayup

    May have to travel south or west to get one which I’d be willing to do
