I have a Dixie Chopper that developed a steering problem today. Can anyone tell me why one of my steering levers becomes almost impossible to move. It is like the hydraulic pump on that side is stopped up or something. When it develops this issue, after you get can jerk it back and forth two or three times and it will free up. You can raise the seat and there is nothing blocking the movement. It is internal in hydro system, whatever it is. Is there something in the oil, or do I have a pump going bad, or what?

Working for a Dixie Dealer and knowing these controls I'd say you have a internal pump problem, Most likely with the trunnion arm/trunnion block or thrust bearing. Once these parts fail there is most likely enough wear through-out the pump to warrant a complete pump replacement.

Should you replace the pump make sure you flush the system good to remove any metal contaminates that could enter the new pump.

Thank you. That is what I was afraid of.
