I have a Stihl 039, MS 290 and a MS 180. My friend that is a Amsoil dealer gave me some Amsoil and said try it with the Saws.

The stuff he gave me is a little PACK of Amsoil Saber Professional 100:1 pre-mix synthetice 2-cycle oil.(mix with 1 gallon of gasoline)

My question to you is can i run this stuff through my saws with out burning then up or hurting them?

Thanks Matt.

Yeah, those are the little packs like ketchup packs, right? They're called "pillow packs" and they're rated to mix 100:1. They won't hurt your saw. I have saws here that are probably 15 years old that have been running that Amsoil their whole life. 2 stroke oil was Amsoils original product; started with snowmobiles up north in the 1970's.

It's interesting that folks who will pay the extra money to buy one of the best saws out there will sometimes be tempted to cut corners on something as inexpensive as quality oil for that saw.

Hope this helps,

JL

Very very strange, you don't think oil make a difference on how the stuff run, but they do. Luckily all my stuff like Amsoil. My Shindy blower run like crap with the Shindaiwa One......of all things!!!!

I've been using Amsoil since 2001 with ZERO equipment failures due to an oil related issue. I certainly would go so far as to insult any other oil like that chuckle head above. And he's never even tried it. He's probably never even seen a bottle of it.

We also run a commercial wood cutting operation, we use Stihl saws.
We have run Stihl Ultra Synthetic in our saws for the last couple of years, runs us 3.20 a bottle (6.4 oz 2.5 gal mix). Have had great luck with it, pull the muffler on your saws, the ultra will keep them carbon free, and has a stabilizer. As good as it is, we switched to Bailey's synthetic a couple of months ago, 1.21 a bottle (6.4 oz 2.5 gal mix) if you buy it by the case of 24, supposedly comes from the same source as the Stihl Ultra, the Bailey's also has a fuel stabilizer. We cannot tell any difference in the performance of the saw. Amsoil supposedly is good stuff, but I can't see it being worth anymore than the Baileys, there are threads upon threads on Aboristsite about two cycle oil. Many commercial loggers, wood cutters and tree trimmer's are running the Bailey's Woodland Pro Synthetic without any issues.
