I have both and love both but the most awesome thing I did was put the lightweight gear head from the 111 on the 94. It is a super lightweight strong trimmer. Stock the 94R and 111rx are hamstrung by the guard since it will only allow 6" of line out. If you remove the guards the 94 is nose heavy and the 111 is butt heavy. With the gear heads swapped it is the best of both worlds. The 94 is super lightweight and balanced and the 111 balanced is no heavier than if it was stock and with the guard.
If I had to just choose one it would be the 94R with speedfeed 400 head.

Thank you all for your help.My concerns are reliability and will the FS 94 with 1.2 hp be able to trim around headstones with two weeks worth of growth? The 1 lbs. weight difference could be significant after a few hours of trimming.I like the idea that Fatwood suggests, putting the gear head from the FS 111 RX on the FS 94.

Dude...I haven't run into anything the 94 won't chop down...you will be happy I assure you. Make sure to change the head with a husky t35 or speed feed head and you are ready to rock n roll

Ps...don't tell your dealer if you change heads just put old one back on if you take it in for warranty work

x2 for Razorbackfan's response. I've ran FS 94's since they came out. They are light, and feel super balanced, and just right in my hands. I've yet to find anything I couldn't cut down with a 94. Never had any issues with reliability, other then ports clogging when I switched to cheaper gallons of oil.

I've actually found more reliability in the 94 then the 4 mixes, hence, I'm ditching the 4-mixes in my fleet. I've had an issue with every time a 4 mix gets turned on the rack or laid over wrong, they want to flood. Never had such an issue with the 94's. They start easy every time.

As far as feathering the throttle, I don't understand that statement. The 94's in my opinion, are much easier to feather the throttle then on a 4-mix. The 4-mixes are more of a all or nothing throttle if you ask me.

The magnesium lightweight gearbox on the top is the one that comes standard with the FS11RX. The one on the bottom is what comes standard on most of the older Stihl trimmers before they did away with the grease port. What I did was swap these around to make a lightweight trimmer.
I made a post about it a while back.
