I just bought a Stihl KM-90R a couple of weeks ago and got the FS-KM trimmer head with it. One guy got me a FS-KM in a box and the girl that was checking me out grabbed one already assembled. I grabbed the assembled one and headed out the door. Afterwards, I realized that I didn't have the manual for the trimmer head and was missing some vital information such as how much line does the trimmer head hold and what is the recommended size of the line. I found the manual online but it states to "refer to the instructions supplied with the mowing head."

So does anybody know the answers to my questions about how much line and what thickness for the FS-KM?

Thanks,

Mike

The manual is correct. The FS-KM refers to the Kombi straight shaft, and trimmer angle gearbox combination. It could be sold with a number of different heads (string, or blade), but probably came with an Autocut 25-2, which takes 0.095" or .105" line.
Anyway, you'll want to figure out which head you have, and look up -that- manual (they're all available online if that works for you).

Oh, and Stihl dealers aren't supposed to sell you that sort of thing in the box. Part of their mantra, is to only sell assembled tools to the customer, and offer each customer a full lesson on how everything works. Kind of a "full service" mentality that they try to enforce in their dealers, to differentiate their product and sales methods from "box stores". I've got a garage full of orange tools, a drawer of manuals, a bunch of screnches, but have never handled a cardboard box.

Oh, and congrats. That's a great machine.
