Does anyone own this saw, let me know what you think about it? Is it worth the price and will it last, or should I be looking at the 290 Farmboss?

Stihl makes a great saw period. It really depends on how big of stuff you are going to cut with it and how often you will need it. I have a MS250 and it works fine.I just use mine to cut up brush and small limbs.I used it after one of our storms to help clear some tress and it did just fine for that too. I think the MS260 is about $360.

I have that saw you're referring to blake. It's a tough saw. I've used it to fell damaged trees and clean up debris after tornados have damaged the area. Works great, plenty of power.

I have the stihl ms260 pro and its an awesome saw, the 261 is its replacement. The farm boss is great for homeowner use or light commercial use. The ms261/260 pro is a full commercial/professional saw. Expect to pay much more for the 260 and 261 pro saws. I paid around $500.00 for mine 6 years ago. I did a review on it here.

apples to oranges. 261 is a much better saw. magnesium case, etc.

made to be run by someone everyday, as opposed to occasional use of a farm boss.

Other than the magnesium case what else is the difference between the two? How long has it been out and has it proven it self? The difference between the ms260 and the ms261 that is?

Go over to and do a search. Tere is a lot of information over there on this saw.

He was talking about the differences between the 261 and farmboss. The 260 pro and 261 are almost identical except the 261 has a lower emission/better fuel economy engine. Both the 261 and 260 are professional saws vs the homeowner farmboss.
