Customer complains that it will not start, and ive verified this haha

He brought a new carb for me to put on it, but before i did, i checked the coil. It was showing no spark at all. After replacing it, it sparks like a champ!
I reassembled the thing and tried to crank it, it will sometimes hit, but will never stay running. :(
Since he brought the carb, i intalled it, only to find the same results.
I did remove the old fuel, and put fresh gas/2cycle oil in.
When the thing does hit, it seems to smoke a lot, but i assume its just excess oil in the cyl. after all that unsuccessful cranking. Plug is always getting spark as well.

I did look up some carb adjustments, and found to screw high and low idle screws in and then back them out 1 turn to start as a basic setting.

Is this the correct way to do the carb adjustment?
    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks guys.

Try pulling the spark arrestor and/or the exhaust screen. If that doesn't help, try starting it without the muffler at all. There is a good chance the exhaust is blocked up. Good Luck
