Just some input. I went to demo a stinger walk behind that a friend had bought he has about 15 hours using it. I'm looking for a new walk behind I have a older Ryan 5. I was on the road with all my machines doing aeration so I had my Ryan with me and met him on his job. The lawn was about 6000 sqft with some beds in the middle and along outside. He did not have the sulky hooked up on this lawn. I was watching him use it and he was really like fighting the machine on the turns and the tight stuff. I said let me give it a shot.

Holly crap is that machine seem heavy and has no traction what so ever when you are just moving it around on the road. Yea I get it you run it on the lawn with the tines down. Dude this thing cant even go up a enclosed trailer gate with out pushing the **** out of it.

I went and grabbed my old Ryan from 1998 and kicked the crap out of him and his machine around the yard. That drum in the front makes you able to spin it very quick on the 90 turns and runs very smooth on the outside edges. Forget it when the stinger hit a wet area it just sunk in and made a mess.

I let my friend try mine out and yes mine needs new parts and needs to be updated but he was like wow it seems so light and the time difference is crazy.

I felt bad bc I could see it in his like what did I buy face. So my point is to the guys that have them are they faster and easier that a Ryan or other brands with a drum. I'm not talking with the sulky. I'm talking small wet area..... some tight lawns.

I honestly hope something is wrong with that machine because it is a tank. I'm not knocking stinger bc I have the brand new rider and I had a Exmark.

I have the exact same issue with mine. We bought it last fall it is basically unusable on our lawns. It is so heavy it works like a rototiller more then an aerator. I took off the 2 weights on the side it helped slightly. There is no traction when moving it around.

That’s exactly what I thought.. so did u go back to a drum aerator?

We stick to using our toro on small areas. I don't turn around using it, just zig zag forward and reverse.
We have a toro stander for open areas. We had hoped to utilize the stinger in a separate trailer doing another aeration route. Probably buy another toro at some point.

Guys put air in the front tires when it says to keep them at 5 psi...we started putting stickers right next to the tire for just this reason.

Lower your air pressure and it grips more than you want for transport.

We had an old Ryan drum aerator and it did an ok job, pain in the but to operate, especially on hills. We bought a Stinger this spring. It may be a tank, but that is what I wanted ,super easy to operate, pulls great plugs, can operate on any terrain. It may tear up areas on occasion, but all aerators will if the turf is weak, if the turf is pulling up, it shouldn’t be aerated in the first place and I skip weak areas. Overall I think it’s a great machine for what its worth
