i'm goin to do a walkway 3 1/2 x 35 ft. its a straight walk. i was wondering how much stone do i need for the base? i came up with 4 tons of 3/4 and 1 ton of stone dust. the 4 tons of 3/4 seems too much

LxWxD will give you your answer. In order to give you some overlay on all sides, I figure you'll need about 4.5 ton of 3/4 crushed, and about .75 ton of concrete sand.

    What's the stonedust for?
