Got to see a new sutech 34" ztr today it looks almost identical to an encore z34! I wonder who makes who? This might answer some of the questions that I had about encore being reliable!
I'd kill for one this summer, actually. I do about 10 small Bermudagrass lawns where any deck larger than 36" scalps and gives an unacceptable cut, so I'm using a wb on them with a velke. It'd be nice to ride. But this mower sounds like it's only a niche mower and it doesn't make sense to buy one for a host of reasons. My goal is to never mow lawns I can't put a lazer on in the future.
I didn't know Sutech made a ZTR. If it looks like an Encore it's probably because it is made in China. Manufacturer's from China come to the U.S. and buy products they want to manufacture. They take them back to China and copy them, build them and then ship them back to U.S. You see in China there are no patents, copyright laws--nothing to protect the U.S. manufacturer. If you don't believe me then take a look at the Fradan backpack. The mold of the body is identical to a Red Max backpack. Take a look at Fradan's hedgetrimmer--same as a Red Max down to the recoil starter. So the truth is they probably copied the Encore ZTR and are now marketing it here in the U.S. By the way that doesn't mean the quality is the same as US--usually a lot cheaper in both price and quality.
