I am thinking of setting up a smaller rig for mid-sized jobs. I would like something in the 48"-54" range and less than 800 lbs that will fit nicely onto a 60" wide lightweight trailer. The idea is I'd like to be able to run around using a Ranger with a lil inline 4 or my trusty Jeep and not have to rack up the miles on the gas-drinking 351 in the F-250, and to be less likely to draw the ire of the DOT NKVD Gestapo.

I like the Toro Titan series, I know it's not full commercial grade, but it'd only see maybe 15 hrs/wk. Most of the commercial stuff won't fit on a 60" trailer, and the 72" trailers are considerably heavier. Any other suggestions?

I got a 08 cub cadet enforcer which is commercial. Under 200hrs, 54", 25hp kawi, 762 pounds I think. Looking for $4000 the 09's were going for $7200

You would have to see what dealers are close to you and work from there. Dealer service is what makes the deal. If you break down and need a fix the dealer that services your manufactured machine is your lifeline. I have a Hustler Mini Z 52" and love it. If you have a dealer close by check into the fat track models that may work for you 48" deck sizes. Also another route may be the Dixon models heavy duty and narrow machines.

quick word on the toro, check the parts cost. I had a timecutter z 50" 21 HP. cut great and was fast but broke a deck belt one time. Had to order it online at a cost of $98 for the belt $108 with shipping. Food for thought... I have a toro dealer 10 miles from the house and they didn't carry the belt in stock and I couldn't find any other belts that would fit besides the OEM.

Theres a big Toro/Stihl dealer nearby, they're very reputable and do a lot of commercial business, part of the reason I was looking at the Titan line.

Nobody around here runs Hustlers and I've never even seen a Dixon before.

If Toro is all you have in your area then I guess your stuck with that. Great machines, don't take me wrong, just expensive parts. Get some quotes on your more common parts to replace: belts, pullys blades bearings... so you start a small emergency fund for the future cost. Good luck this year!
