This is the opposite of your ? ,but will give you an idea.I have a Walker That had a 26HP Kohler FI that I got 3200 Hrs out of before the rocker arm stud stripped out of the head, but other wise was fine.
Anyway instead of fixxing it ,the shop recomended a 23HP carbed motor and this is what they had to change to put it in. The hole motor, fuel tank & wire harness and added a choke and they plugged the hole onthe muffler for the o2 sensor. It was $2400 with labor.

You would need the motor a computer ,electric fuel pump & maybe tank, wire harness and a muffler with o2 sensor . Its alot more money to go from carb to FI and the gas savings may not be worth the extra cost + you have more expensive electronic parts to fail. dont get me wrong as I loved the fuel savings and I never had trouble with mine.It was a 1999 unit and I dont know how reliable they are today.

Also Im pretty sure that the 25HP and 26HP long blocks are the exact same.

You would have to add up the extra cost vs fuel savings

The connectors will not fit from one to another. If you had a carb engine and now you going fuel injected you need a high pressure fuel pump.to run the fuel injection. Now make sure you have all the electric parts from the engine you are going to swap including relays you gonna need all those.:weightlifter:

I reread you first post and the 26HP Kohler FI should bolt right in and as long as the shaft size and length is the same your old motor pully should fit and I beleive the new FI motors have the fuel pump on the motor and not in the tank like mine was , so you would just run the fuel line into your tank and I beleive the computer is mounted on the engine instead of the dash like mine was so you would not have to mount that and just hook the throttle cable up.

main consern would be wiring which if they make that motor on that mower now you could just get there harness if not you better be good with figuring out wiring. You need to look at your mower & engine wiring schematics aand the wiring schematics of the new motor and figure it out:dizzy:

As for the Liquid Kawasaki motor you would have to make sure it fits and has the same shaft size and length for your pully and that it lines up were your old pully was and hook the fuel line and throttle and choke cables up and again figure out the wiring by looking at the schematics from the motor and mower  Or you could get the motor in and then take it to a shop to do the wiring .Like a wiring specialist (Wire Wizzards is what we have here $85 per Hr. but it does not take them long because they know there stuff) or maybe a mower shop, but you would want to check with them before motor perchase Just my thoughts:drinkup:

I spent a LOT of $$ converting a 1997 22 kohler GreatDane origional Surfer to a 27hp efi kohler. Kohler NOW has a EFI motor with everything included. Basically plug & play. It costs folding money, but no where the cost and time that I went through. I really like my efi.
