I found what appears to be a better alternative to TinyTach.

It is made by ENM company http://www.enmco.com. It has all the features of TinyTach, plus it provides user defined maintenance intervals. The same unit works on 2 and 4 cycle engines (user definable). I have these installed on my equipment and they work great. As memory serves me, if you buy 3 of them, there are about $22 a piece.
