Where can I go to have someone test my soil. I have rock hard clay on my sides and rear of my house, and it very difficult to grow grass. I know I'm missing certain nutrients, but I just don't know which ones.

Is there a self test I can purchase, to test my soil for nutrients and PH balance?

    Thanks.

Go to Lowes, they used to sell them. I don't know how accurate they are, but I'm sure it will give you a good indication of what you need. I've used them before and they work well. They use a pill to test for N,K etc..

    Matt,

I just went though this. Look for the thread "Fertilizer mumbo jumbo". It's fairly current and still on the first page of the threads. Other members provided a lot of good advice.
