Mowed Dr office yesterday (new client).
Grass was knee length, walked property looking for any object that shouldn't be mowed over, ended up hitting every huge stick, rock, and even a steel plate don't ask...
Dulled my blades a little glad I purchased a commercial mower vs residential junk, otherwise the outcome would of been far beyond blade sharpening more like new deck...
A couple of years ago, I fell victim to a full wet diaper hidden in tall grass. It exploded and bits of Bio hazzard was stuck to myself and the mower. The smell was something the english language don't have words to describe it.
That reminds me, I ever so slightly bumped a gas meter last year. Didn't think much about it. Next week the owners freaked out on me, said they had to call the fire dept. and the gas company after I left, and were without gas for several hours. Wanted me to pay for it. I declined. They fired me. So it goes.
Last year it hit a used sanitary napkin in one of my yards, must be a dog got it out of the garbage. Anyway tore it up somewhat but not as much as you would think must be that absorbing power kept it together.
I hit a McNasty yesterday, I was mowing the ditch along the driveway and the blades found a half gallon of milk the must have been in the sun for about 2 months. Thick sticky stinky cheese came out of the chute. :ack:
I know what ya mean, i walked a new yard last week, it wasnt really long but long enough to hide thigs, didnt find anything though, then about halfway through the yard i hear BANG ! found a nice Big Brick ! bent the hell out of the blade. luckily i carry extra blades in the truck. but what a MAJOR PITA having to change blades ! :hammerhead:
Ive hit like 3 of those water main shutoff things that stick up a little out of the ground. Bent one a little bit, chipped a piece off another, thank god they didnt break. But damn arent they a PITA. Ive never bent a blade though, how they hell do you bend a blade, jeez do your machine not have shear pins or something. My walker will break the shear pins if i hit a rock and thats a PITA too but again its my fault for hitting a rock.
We hit a dog chain last week with our toro stand on aerator.... 1200$ later everything was fixed.
