"The Sorry Saga of the Blue Spruce"

    I love too see all those blue spruces when visiting the upper mid west, as well as the cool summers.'

    They wont grow here.

    They grow fine here in Southern Idaho and are popular enough that I find them mildly annoying because I spray dormant oil and it washes the blue off them if they are hit. :laugh:

    I'm sure that Picea pungens "Glauca" does great in Idaho.

    Got to be careful with those blue colored evergreens when spraying dormant/horticultural oil, as the oil will temporarily remove the waxy blue cuticle!

    Maybe they are a sub-species...Idaho Blue Spruce.
