The current TRENCH'N Edge Trenchers that we sell are not self propelled, we have a self propelled model in development and you can see one of the test runs on youtube.

The TRENCH'N edge Trencher has several safety features to protect the operator:
There are guards around the whole machine to keep any body parts away from the blade
The blade is fully covered
The handle on the front wheel acts as a brake
The unit also has a saftey kill switch on the handle in addition the unit is not self propelled therefore if you stop pulling it the blade will just spin in the hole.

I bought one last year. I LOVE IT. I have done many irrigation installs, and it never lets me down, we have solid soil. very much cley. It zips right through it. Tree roots are a breeze. I once hit a solid water shut off valve. The machine jumpes 3" and broke one of the teeth off. Two new shear bolts and I was back in business.
