This property has 4 controllers, 4 pumps, 49 total zones that includes 37 Nodes. Her section of the property has 12 zones ( 7 Nodes) and each is a mix of rotors and sprays. They run for 30 min/zone M,W,F. Zone 1 starts @ 8:00 pm, why? So that each one of these people can see their irrigation running at the allotted time. If we change anything , I let them know, to avoid things like this . All that being said , with over 600 nodes in a 100 mile radius, I do NOT change them all for daylight savings time. EVERYONE knows this and yet , here we are. Don’t be like this when you retire.

FYI, Nodes do not keep time accurately

A fellow once said this to me "If a man's truck is dirty his underwear probably is also", sounded crazy at first but as I went through life it started to make sense. His point was if someone doesn't take care of this thing then that's probably how they go about other things.
I don't know, my truck's pretty dirty on the inside, but business-wise I run a pretty clean ship compared to other landscape companies I see. I do need to get in and organize my truck though before the season gets too busy.

Can you spot what’s wrong? (aside from the slip fix being backward)
Slip Fixes are non-directional, as far as I know.

They actually are directional, not that it matters much on that size pipe. The pics didn’t show it well, but the original valve was installed backwards. Yes, my guys replaced an 1 1/2” valve with a 1 inch and then put it in backwards. Same guys who can do this

So today we replaced the old lake screen with a new one. 3” pipe all the way to the pump. All well and good until I realized when filling the line, we broke something on the install. In my ocd to get it just a little further out , I snapped the check valve in the lake. My big guy literally went swimming in over 10’ of water to fish the screens out. Remember , slow and steady or slow the F*** down , whichever you prefer.

The 3” is the suction side. There is copper mesh/lining inside , surrounded by the plastics mesh. The copper helps to prevent algae growth, a problem down here. The 1/2” is connected to a couple 10F nozzle and is the “cleaning” mechanism. We hook the 1/2” to the discharge side of the pump or a valve nearby, it basically just helps keep the screen cleaner. Sometimes I use it sometimes not. Each of these screens are rated up to 5hp. At $500 each to the property I can’t always use 2 , but if I can get the money I will. You can never really have too much screen. This pump, 5hp LTH , is used as a booster , if the main ever fails I’ll need every GPM I can get, so 2 screens.

Swapped a pump yesterday, this setup is just a transfer system from a large lake to a large pond. This keeps the pond at the right level. The LTH is a perfectly fine pump for this as it will push 90+ GPM. The B2 1/2 TPMS was pulled from job last year. It is not a pump that will push 90gpm @ 140’ TDH , but as a transfer pump it is ideal. Got the water flowing and saved the customer a bunch of money. That’s a win. ( yes, I have to come up with a new intake support, intake could stand to be replaced also) I’ll give it a few days and check the flow rate.

And I neatened up most of my dope just for you @RhettMan , even though it’s behind bushes and no one will ever notice :)

Maybe know one else will know, but you will.

(Though I'm aware that you already do quality work and that you have a sarcastic humbleness about not suggesting outright that your work is good)
That's noble i suppose.)

That was just a poke, nothing more, since you were the only one who noticed my use of 2 different compounds on the same job. A lot of my work is quick and dirty, but when it’s visible it does make a difference.

We ran a piece of 3/4” up the wall of a building today to feed drip we ran for hanging pots. My guy coined a new phrase “ you want the Martha Stewart job Jimmy ?” Yes, I want the Martha Stewart job ! :ROFLMAO:

It constantly amazes me the issues we run into and are able to get fixed and I enjoy showing some of that work to other folks who may never get a chance to do this kind of stuff. It’s cool, especially when I have sand to dig in.
