I have a policy for my driver that if it is an accident, or a situation that could not be avoided I will cover it... If it is gross negligence on their part, they cover... In writing and signed... Example, I had an employee of mine on a rented truck hop the plow over a stump on the side of a lot... Plow did not raise high enough to clear the stump.... , he did not call for me or page me to tell me the situation and for advice.... he shifted it in reverse and floored it thinking he would hop it over... and ripped the moldboard off the frame.... I laughed my tush off and sent him the bill and now he is doing sidewalks for me at 10 dollars an hour instead of 18 in the truck.
