Was wondering about any info on the deere 27d minix machine. Comments from anyone that has used this machine or maybe had one and upgraded. Any one with any other brand than deere don't try to talk me into another brand, I'm going to go with deere. I'm mainly going to use this machine for landscaping purposes such as, digging for plants and trees, setting bolders, digging for steps, digging out stumps, and probaly other landscape uses. I was probaly going to get the thumb as well. I might eventually do small digging jobs as time goes on but not really going to do heavy escavating. I like the 35d but the price is alittle out of reach at this time. Any 27d owners please let me know what you think before I pull the trigger, thank you!

35 would be a better size for you.

Thanks whiffy, why do you think 35d would be better for me, just curious do you run this machine have you ran a 27d before, if you see my thread you can see kind of what work i do. I want it for landscaping mostly, what would be your main reason for going with the 35d, keep in mind the price difference is the biggest factor for me.

35 is much more capable. You could even get a mower if you ever decide to expand.

The little Deere 36 is a powerhouse IMO.

Are you getting an open cab? The prices shouldn't be that far apart. Don't quote me but I'm pretty sure the e series are out now. Or will be very shortly. I know some of them are

We have a 27D with thumb, 34" smooth lip bucket, and a 12 & 24" toothed bucket. We wanted a 35D but it was a little more than I wanted to spend and it was a little too heavy for our trailer.
We use the 27 for digging patios/walls, setting smaller boulders and wall block, removing shrubs/ornamental trees, leveling patio base and many other jobs. The reach is good but may be a little tippy at times but I would never get a machine without zero tail swing.
Of course there have been times that a smaller or bigger machine would have been better for the job but overall the 27 has been great and don't regret getting it one bit.

Can't argue with any of that

I have a 35D. Great machine but I do find myself wishing it was a little larger at times when it comes to stumps and setting boulders. It will get the job done. Its just a little more work sometimes.

Other than for the stumps and boulders the 27 is more than enough machine for the uses you described and will be able to accomplish the stumps and boulders with a little extra planning and work. If possible I would make the move up to the 35 but the 27 will do what you need.

By all means get the thumb as well. I would be lost without mine. I use it constantly. It makes the machine so much more versatile.
