"I purchased an el cheapo Ryobi angle grinder from Home Depot. Just sharpened them yesterday...I'm guessing it takes some getting used to? Any tips?

Try using a flap sanding wheel 36 or 40 grit instead of the hard wheel which came with the grinder.
