I currently have a part time mowing business. I am licensed and insured and am doing well but am looking to start doing weed and feed stuff. I have been learning that side before i just jump in and am looking into getting the license and start spraying after i get it and the equipment.

The question. If you started over again doing weed and feed what would you do knowing what you know now? What helped, what didnt, what equipment to start out with?.

    Thanks for the help.

I just finished my first "getting my feet wet" year in doing fert applications. Would be happy to go more into detail if you want.

My recommendation (depending on how many yards you have) Start with a good push spreader, a small skid sprayer and a backpack sprayer. Should be in good shape to start out. I bought a brand new anderson spreader $400 and picked up a used lesco skid sprayer for $700 (best purchase i've ever made).

If you can afford a spreader sprayer do it. You will do lawns super quick. Once you get a rideon you won’t want to pull a hose.

I wouldn't change anything about the way we started out. I researched this site over winter months and probably scanned over 1000 threads before starting up in the spring.

I agree, once I bought my Z-spray I sold my tank sprayer. Haven't looked back.
