We are considering accepting credit cards. It would seem that the convenience to the customer would be great, at the end of the month, you just ping the customers credit cards. It eliminates alot of collection headaches and calls.

It may also ease the monthly check writing pain, which might help with the customer retention issue?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I started using quickbooks cc service this year and it has worked out well.
I mainly use it for the 1 time jobs. These were whre my problems were.
Now I bid the job and when they accept I get their cc #.
Get my money in 2 days.....

That was my thought too. I also thought that my monthly's, once I had their cc on file, I could just run a batch at the end of the month and ping their cards...

just for a mental note, Be careful of chargebacks,

I had my first in 2 years, wasnt even notified, was going over accounts online and BAM it stoof right out.

Customer was upset because i wasnt willing to repair the damage caused by his goats to his front yard, i hydroseeded 6 week prior, drove by a couple times and saw them in the fron yard. needless to say, his warranty is void.

So i got the chargeback reversed, see what happens from here
