Is there a limit as to the amount of drainage stone behind a retaining wall? We typically install the standard 1' of clean stone behind the wall, but can you install more than that? Is 2' too much? What would some of the inherant problems be with too much stone behind the wall? Thanks for the help.

Chris, I'm definitely not an engineer, but I can't think of a problem. There is no limit on how much soil you can place behind a wall and clean stone places less pressure on a wall than soil. Why are you asking?

BTW, I saw a new scrub in my area today, C&G landscaping or something like that.

Thanks Mike - The reason I'm asking is that I cut back a hill to install a wall and I have 2' behind the wall to the face of the excavation. So, rather than trying to do 1' clean and 1' backfill I would just install all clean and be done with it.

By the way, If anyone here knows who Bella Vista Landscape is let me know. I saw one of their trucks on my turf and if they know what's good for them they will cut their losses and pull out of my territory. I shouldn't be worried though, I hear they are small potatoes.

Truce........, or I can inform your customers that you are out on WORK RELEASE and that your start dates are contingent on COURT DATES. You choose. I guess you know a lot about potatoes. I'm sure you peel a lot of them in PRISON (BTW, this is a joke. I don't think Chris is a convict. He just looks like one.)
