We are thinking about purchasing a 36 walkbehind. The 2 we have narrowed it down to are the John Deere GS45 and the Toro 15 HP Kohler® Command PRO™ with 36" Super Flow System. Each have a floating deck and pistol grips. Does anyone have any experience handling each of these? Do you prefer one over the other?

    Thanks for the replies.

Neither, get the Toro with T bar controls.

I have a 36 inch Scag with pistol grips. It's a great machine, but the T bar is better in my opinion. If I had to do it again, it would be Toro for me.

Can't speak for the JD but I am not a fan of Toro SFS decks or their new design carrier frame....the "classic" is better but still incorperates the SFS. Won't buy Toro Walks until the Turbo Force deck filters down to their smaller units.

What is wrong with the Toro SFS decks.
