Anyone own one ? I am looking for info on which series and which motor to buy. I have 11 acres of lawn/pasture that I cut. I now cut with a Kubota l3700 and a 72 inch finish mower. My biggest concern about toro is the engine size Is the Kohler 26.5 or 25.5 (6000 series 26.5 5000 series 25.5) enough hp to cut pastures and country (redneck) yards other choices are fx-801v Kawasaki 25.5 hp or the kohler 34 hp efi. if grass gets to high I will always be able to cut with tractor. I am looking to buy under the equine savings program thanks

I would get the 34hp Kohler in a heartbeat. The EFI gets great gas usage and 34hp should work great on a 72" machine. The smaller engines really are not powerful enough for more than a 60" machine except in ideal conditions IMO.

I am looking at the 60 inch deck My finish mower is 72 but I want a 60 on the toro does the 26.5 efi have enough power for the 60 in

34hp would always work better but I have a Gravely 460 and it runs fine with the 26.5 unless you get on a hill or really thick grass. I'm sure you would be more than happy with the smaller engine but if it were me with that choice unless my yard is perfectly flat and I mow it less than twice a month I would really be leaning towards the 34hp. If you can get a demo I would just to see, the 26.5 will probably be fine for you though since it is just for your yard.

I have the 72" 3000 series and cut 5-6 personal acres, just got it this year. Does better than my finish deck in the thick stuff on a 3000 series Ford. 34hp would be overkill unless bagging IMHO. Look at the 3000, same machine, less money. Upgrade seat to suspension seat, dealer charged me $250 for the seat with the trade of my new seat. I swapped myself.

Differences 3k vs 5k as memory serves:
Shock Valves on the pumps...needed if some jerk is hopping curbs and driving like an A$$.
Non-pnuematic front tires
4 extra gallons of gas
Suspension seat (needed this for my field)

Anyway, something to consider. Same frame, deck, etc... minor differences that would be big for the commercial guy, but not worth $2k to me. I only have 16hrs so far this year though, so for what its worth.
