Hi all,
I found this forum a long time ago and it was very helpful, I'm hoping it will be again.
I have a Toro Zero Turn mower, model SS5000. It's about 8 or 9 years old, but in relatively good shape. I cut around an acre with it every 5 days. Anyway, I cut my grass today and about 1/3 of the way through, I noticed that one of the drive wheels was acting funky. It was almost like the right stick/wheel wasn't doing anything. If I pushed the left stick all the way forward, the mower would go what felt like normal speed, but it would drift hard right. If I pulled back on that stick to turn, then the mower would almost stop. Eventually, it got to the point where turning left was almost impossible.
I stopped the mower and checked everything I know how to check and couldn't find anything. I went in for dinner, then came out and finished cutting the grass. When I first started, it seemed to be moving normally or at least close to normally, but as it got hotter, it started acting up again.
I don't see any obvious signs of leaking, and when I Google it a bunch of results say to check the hydraulic fluid. The problem is, nothing says or shows where to check it, if it's even possible on my model. I can't really be without this mower as it's my only one, so having it taken to a shop that will have it for 2-3 weeks or longer isn't really an option, I'm hoping it's something I can fix myself.
