trailer brakes

    i have a 20ft 14000 lb load trail gooseneck with brakes on one axel i need to put new brakes on it but can not figure out how to get it off the axle.

    What point are you at? Are you able to get the drums off? And, did you post this in the mechanic or trailer section?

    You probably have to take the cotter pin and the castle nut off the center of the hub. Then the drum should come right off.

    But if the drums are really worn the linings may sit down in the wear groove locking the drum on and you will have to hammer the drum off by going around the drum lip outwards until the linings come out of the groove.
