Hey everybody, trying to decide on what size trailer to buy. Im buying a new one this spring and im stuck debating on the size. I need it 82 inches wide forsure but have the option of a 14 16 18 or 20 footer. I current have a 6.5 by 12 footer and my equipment barly fits with 3 inches to spare. Id like to build a grass box in the front of the trailer and still have enough room in the back for my mowers. My mowers take up 12 feet but i also have a lawn vac and push mower and am buying a 30 inch walkbehind. What size would you buy?

    I can get a 14 foot for 1995.00
    a 16 foot for 2095.00
    a 18 foot for 2195.00
    and a 20 foot for 2295.00

What would you do if you were in my situation?

Thank everyone and hope everything is well!

Depends on if you have the space to store a 20ft trailer. If you do have the space than get the 20ft. you won't be disappointed.

    20. Since you have a 12' one allready, get the long one so you have a long and a short one.

I bought a 20' last year and its awesome when I need the room. I just bought a 6x10 aluminum also, so I have a small one for the jobs that dont need me pulling the big one. Best of both worlds.

my opinion (learning from experience) buy bigger than you need.... we all plan to grow our companies and with that you will acquire more equipment... there is no such thing as too much room to trailer equipment
i just bought a 22 foot trailer for the mowing crew, i could have gotten away with a 20 foot but will most likely be adding another rider to the crew and scrapping the walkbehind ... get the biggest u can afford/store/park

Of course you want to get the biggest you can to grow into it but you must also consider the properties you service. A lot of the small postage stamp lots you see today ,you will be hard pressed to park anywhere close to the lot. Truck plus 20' trailer and you will cross two driveways.
I have a 12' trailer now and I would love a 20' for room. But the 12' trailer behind my truck is already to long for a few lots. For them I park about 150' away.
If you don't think that is very far think about the number of trips you make back and forth to the trailer.

Grass box in the front - how big and how do you plan on unloading it?

My friends bought a 6x16 thinking it would have plenty of room. Then only a year later they sold it and got the 7x20, and it works much better. Plenty of room for a Walker, John Deere Stander, and an 8'x6' grass bin. I would definitely go with the 20' as it's only a $300 extra expense over the 14'. You can never have too much room, and you will always find that the space is just a little to small to expand if you go smaller.
