    What is the general rule of thumb for size of ball to be dug to caliper measure of tree? The tree is kwanzan cherry.

    10"-12" of ball for each inch of caliper. Caliper is the diameter of the trunk 6" above the ground.

    Do not transplant "stone fruits" such as cherry, peach, plum etc in the fall even if they are the flowering, ornamental type. Spring only.
